A windship to explore the oceans of the World

Launched in 2008 and Australian Registered, McCoy represents the apotheosis of the owners’ extensive blue-water cruising experience, acquired over many years. Having previously collaborated with Joe Adams, the owners turned to Joe to design a vessel that would be the ideal expression of their cruising concept; notably:

  • A sail-boat capable of 200+nm passage times (in 24hours), given the right conditions;
  • An embodiment of and monument to, the integrity of traditional values;
  • A bullet-proof hull structure and rig;
  • Following the Lyn and Larry Pardey philosophy of self-reliance ,
  • A dedicated pure sailing machine; dry bilge and no motor;
  • A powerful vessel capable of handling the worst sea conditions that the Southern Ocean can dish out;
  • Whilst in port, a comfortable live-aboard home.

Regrettably for the couple who designed and built McCoy, health issues have intervened to put paid to their dream. It is for this reason that McCoy has been placed on the market.
